I nearly didn't read to the end of the Emily Witt piece, mostly because I was undone by the lifestyle, and relationship and professional behaviours, of a women pushing 40 years old, contemplating having a child. It was not cool. Forty-ish isn't the new 20.
Still, I pushed through, waiting for a point, or even a memorable line. There was no pay off.
The lack of personal insight and lack of mature thought left me irked.
The ex boyfriend had mental health concerns and drug use issues, plus was traumatized by the events stemming from attending the protest. He later moved on with his life. That's what people do when a relationship ends, when they want it to be done. That's normal. That's healthy.
So, there's going to be an entire book with this level of minutiae, one person's self indulgence , one hand clapping? I think I'll pass.
